  • "Rudd extracts sounds from the trombone that go back to New Orleans and further ahead than anyone has yet reached." Nat Hentoff in Cosmopolitan

Fresh off the triumph of his MALIcool sessions, an ecstatic blend of north Africa and the deep south, trombonist Roswell Rudd jets off to yet more novel pastures. On 2005’s Blue Mongol, Rudd and the Mongolian Buryat Band do the same with central Asian musical traditions. Featuring polyphonic throat singing and the playing of bamboo flute, horse-head bass and jaw harp, these specially assembled master musicians join Rudd for an evening of a newly discovered yet somehow familiar music.
