Whether you are a jazz veteran or attending a jazz concert for
the first time, your listening experience will be enhanced by
these classes. Renowned Bay Area jazz educator and flugelhornist
Dmitri Matheny takes you right into the heart of the music, illuminating
each instrument's role in setting the tempo, establishing the
harmony, stating the melody, and observing the form in modern
jazz. Matheny and different celebrity guests will survey the distinctive
styles of artists from jazz history, as well as those appearing
in the '06 San Francisco Jazz Festival.
.
