"Blue Trio" for SFJAZZ Spring Season 2005 and 2007

The über-cool trumpet player in our 2007 SFJAZZ Spring Season campaign was painted by Mark Ulriksen, an award-winning San Francisco–based freelance illustrator and artist who is now in his third year as creator of SFJAZZ's spring imagery. Over the years, Mark’s work has appeared in most of America's leading magazines and newspapers, including Rolling Stone, Vibe, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, Time, Newsweek, and The New York Times. Since 1993, he has also been a regular contributor to The New Yorker, in which he has published more than 150 illustrations and more than 20 covers.

Mark specializes in figurative work that blends humor with psychological insight. In addition to magazine illustrations, Mark paints commissioned portraits, especially dog and family portraits.
