Discover Jazz: History and Appreciation Course

  • Explore the fascinating, swinging story of one of jazz's signature instruments, the tenor saxophone, in this five-part jazz appreciation course—the perfect preparation for this spring's shows by Wayne Shorter, Charles Lloyd, and other tenor masters. Bay Area tenor saxophone greats will join each Discover Jazz class to give their perspective on the featured historical artist, the instrument, its history, and their own important musical work.

    The course is taught by bassist, jazz educator, and SFJAZZ Director of Education Cory Combs at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco and features live jazz performances by guest artists.
