Giovanni Allevi isn’t exactly a jazz pianist, but the Italian composer made his U.S. debut at the Blue Note in New York City, and his solo recitals flow with an effervescent energy that will feel familiar to any jazz fan. Since releasing his first album in 1997, he’s attained near rock star status, selling more than half a million CDs and touring internationally. With his unruly hair and casual attire, Allevi has broken one barrier after another, recently becoming the youngest musician to perform as both conductor and pianist at the Christmas concert in Rome’s awe-inspiring Palazzo Madama. His latest release, the double album Allevilive, was recorded during his Joy Tour 2007, which sold out all of its 120 dates.

Born in Rome, Patrizia Scascitelli graduated in classical and jazz piano from the esteemed Conservatory St. Cecilia. After moving to her current home of New York in the early 1980s, Scascitelli made a name for herself performing with jazz legends like Don Cherry, Maxine Sullivan, Clifford Jordan, David “Fathead” Newman, Buster Williams and a host of others.

“A musician brimming with imagination and fervor” La Repubblica “Patrizia is a marvelous melodist who presents her attractive lines with a distinct clarity and strong feeling. Listeners do not have to work hard to enjoy themselves.” Ira Gitler
