We are pleased to announce The Real McCoy: 2009 SFJAZZ Gala, to be held at The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco on Saturday, April 25, 2009 in tribute to legendary pianist and composer McCoy Tyner. The Gala celebration will feature Mr. Tyner in an exclusive performance with members of the SFJAZZ Collective, as well as performances by the SJAZZ High School All-Stars, and other special musical guests.

The Real McCoy: 2009 SFJAZZ Gala offers music-lovers the chance to celebrate with some of the world’s most accomplished jazz musicians in a benefit for the artistic and education programs of SFJAZZ.

The 2009 SFJAZZ Gala begins with a reception featuring culinary delights, signature cocktails, and a silent auction. The program proceeds to a sumptuous seated dinner, where guests will enjoy live performances by the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars, McCoy Tyner, and members of the SFJAZZ Collective.

Since jazz is the music of improvisation, we cap off the evening with what has become a highlight of our annual event: the "SFJAZZ After Jam” – a lively postlude with delectable dessert buffet, coffee and cordials, dancing, and performances by surprise musical guests.

SFJAZZ is celebrating 26 years of jazz presenting and jazz education. The 2009 Gala is sure to be a popular affair attracting 400-500 guests. Previous events have sold out and raised over $250,000 annually for jazz programs.
