A double dose of soul brings together Israel’s biggest international star and the R&B goddess India.Arie. With 18 Grammy nominations and four Grammy Awards to her credit, Arie is a multifaceted creative force, a singer, composer, producer, guitarist and flautist who broke through with 2001’s monster hit Acoustic Soul. Subsequent hit records won her the coveted Best R&B Album Grammy in 2003 and landed Arie on top of the Billboard pop chart in 2006. On 2009’s Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics, Arie sought out an eclectic list of collaborators like blues great Keb’ Mo’ and jazz diva Rachelle Ferrell. Her new album, Open Door, is an expansive musical dialogue with keyboardist Idan Raichel, who set Arie’s probing lyrics to a multi-cultural array of Hebrew melodies. He’s won an international following by incorporating Israel’s daunting diversity in his music, with particular emphasis on influences from Ethiopia and Yemen. In an interview after earning another Grammy for her contribution to Herbie Hancock’s version of “Imagine,” Arie told Examiner.com about how she met Raichel while vacationing in Israel. “I was asking people, ‘Who’s the most important, young, political, revolutionary singer-songwriter?’” Arie recalls. “And everybody said, ‘Idan Raichel.’” The rest is history.

Paramount Theatre
Oakland's Paramount Theatre is one of the finest remaining examples of Art Deco design in the United States. Designed by renowned San Francisco architect Timothy L. Pflueger and completed in late 1931, it was one of the first Depression-era buildings to incorporate and integrate the work of numerous creative artists into its architecture and is particularly noteworthy for its successful orchestration of the various artistic disciplines into an original and harmonious whole.

SFJAZZ Ticket PoliciesTicket RefundsTickets purchased for SFJAZZ concerts are non-refundable, except in the event of a cancelled performance. Refunds are then given in original form of payment. Per ticket and per order handling fees are non-refundable, with no exceptions. Ticket ExchangesTickets purchased for SFJAZZ concerts are non-exchangeable, except for members of SFJAZZ at the Contributor level ($120/year) and above. This valuable benefit of membership allows members to make ticket exchanges for concerts within the same season or to receive 'ticket credit' for purchasing tickets to a concert in a future season. Ticket credits can only be used for purchases made directly thru SFJAZZ (i.e. not available when purchasing thru Tickets.com). Ticket exchanges are accepted up to 24 hours prior to the performance. If you are a Contributor level member and have tickets you would like to exchange either for another concert or for ticket credit, then please mail the tickets back to SFJAZZ, or rip the tickets in half, photocopy the ripped tickets, discard the ripped tickets and fax the photocopy to (415) 398-5569. Tickets donated by generous SFJAZZ patrons enable awaiting jazz fans to experience some incredible musical moments. And proceeds from tickets purchased or donated help provide funding for SFJAZZ concert programming and community-based jazz education. Donations are accepted in advance by phone/fax/in person no later than 24 hours prior to show time and in person at the concert venue box office up until scheduled show time. Only unused tickets may be submitted for donation. Donation acknowledgement letters from SFJAZZ will be sent out at the end of the concert season. Tickets for ChildrenSFJAZZ discourages audience members from bringing infants to concerts so as not to disturb the performers or other patrons (the one exception applies to family matinee concerts, where children of all ages are welcome). Non-infant children under two years of age do not need tickets to regular concerts and may sit on parents' laps. Children over two years are required to have a ticket for entry.
