Spring Season Tix On Sale to Members

Tickets to the SFJAZZ Spring Season go on sale this weekend (Saturday, December 16, 10am) exclusively to SFJAZZ Members. The Spring Season, which runs from March 8-June 23, features a brilliant array of jazz luminaries including pianists Dave Brubeck, McCoy Tyner, and Fred Hersch (in a Members-only solo performance); the spell-binding vocals of “Queen of R&B” Etta James, Dianne Reeves, and Paula West; guitarists Bill Frisell and the Assad Brothers; and jazz trailblazers Joshua Redman, Dave Holland, and our own SFJAZZ Collective. Also, this spring SFJAZZ pays tribute to the legacy of legendary composer and pianist Thelonious Monk in what would have been his 90th-birthday year. The Monk Project is a series of concerts, education events, and more including reinterpretations of two famed Monk performances: his Carnegie Hall date with John Coltrane (featuring Joshua Redman and Brad Mehldau) and the “Town Hall Concert,” featuring pianist Jason Moran, Monk’s son, drummer T.S. Monk, and others.

To launch Spring Season ticket sales for members, the SFJAZZ Box Office & Store will be open special extended hours this weekend, December 16-17, from 10am to 6pm.  Validated Embarcadero Center parking is included with purchase, and the Box Office will provide complimentary coffee and donuts on Saturday!

If you aren’t an SFJAZZ member, there’s still time to join and take advantage of this highly valued Members-only benefit. Remember that the Members’ pre-sale period ends January 6. Join today to ensure the best seats for spring.

Tickets for the SFJAZZ Spring Season will go on sale to the general public on Sunday, January 7 at 10am.

Another holiday gem for the trivia inclined, in honor of the upcoming Spring Season’s Monk Project:

What classic movie did the holiday song  “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” first appear in?

E-mail Your Answer (include "Holiday Trivia" in the subject line)

The second correct respondent will receive a handsome SFJAZZ T-shirt. (XL and XXL only)

The fine print: Our contest winner will be notified directly by email, and both the winner's name and the correct answer to the question will be published in next week's e-News. The following are not eligible to enter: employees and current contractors of SFJAZZ and its seasonal sponsors; past e-News Jazz Trivia Contest winners.

Congratulations to Norisa Berardi, who knew that Vince Guaraldi, famed composer and performer of Charlie Brown’s Christmas music, never recorded the holiday chestnut “White Christmas.”
