Fall Festival Details Now Online

The complete schedule for the 24th San Francisco Jazz Festival, including show descriptions, dates, and ticket prices, is now live on the SFJAZZ website. With a lineup that includes the colossal Sonny Rollins, the transcendent Alice Coltrane, and the Brazilian sounds of Marisa Monte, the fall Festival will be a citywide celebration of exceptional music. Or, in USA Today’s words: “For three full weeks in the fall, the City by the Bay is the jazz capital of the world.”

Tickets go on sale to SFJAZZ Members on Saturday, July 8, and to the general public two weeks later—on Sunday, July 23. In addition to this privileged access to the best seats for every Festival show, SFJAZZ Members enjoy ticket sales without service charges, exclusive shows, free listening parties and other great benefits. What’s more, new Members who join by close of business June 30 can take advantage of our “Join in June” offer—a free one-year subscription to JazzTimes Magazine. (Some restrictions apply—get the details.)

In the three years since its debut, the SFJAZZ Collective has earned widespread acclaim for its innovative repertoire and stellar musicianship. Now DownBeat has named the Collective the #1 “Rising Star Jazz Group” in its annual Critics Poll. Two Collective members also took individual awards: Bobby Hutcherson for “Best Vibraphonist” and Miguel Zenón for #1 “Rising Star–Alto Saxophone.” Look for the full story in DownBeat’s August issue.
Check out this year’s poll-winning Collective for yourself by pre-ordering the forthcoming deluxe multi-disc set, SFJAZZ Collective Live 2006: 3rd Annual Concert Tour. Slated for release this fall, this collection features one live performance apiece of the Collective’s entire 2006 repertoire: interpretations of works by Herbie Hancock and new original compositions by the Collective’s own members. If you pre-order the numbered, limited edition set [LINK TO PRE-ORDER PAGE] by June 30, you’ll save 15% off the regular price of $35. And, by ordering the CDs in advance, you’ll also help underwrite the cost of recording and producing this keepsake CD set.
