SFJAZZ Receives The Wallace Foundation Excellence Award grant

SFJAZZ is proud to be one of 11 Bay Area Arts Organizations honored with The Wallace Foundation Excellence Award grant. This four-year grant will support “The Discovery Project”, a constellation of initiatives designed to broaden attendance among SFJAZZ concert patrons ages 18-34.

The Wallace Foundation Excellence Awards were created to pioneer effective practices to engage more people in high-value arts activities.

“The Excellence Awards honor organizations that have made a commitment to engage more people deeply in the arts part of their DNA,” said Christine DeVita, President of The Wallace Foundation. “We created these awards to draw national attention to the importance of engaging more people in the arts, to encourage organizations to sustain and expand the impact of their work with local constituencies, and to generate an assortment of useful, broadly-applicable lessons and practices that will be helpful to the field. We are pleased that exemplary SFJAZZ is joining this important knowledge development effort.”

“The Wallace Foundation’s innovative funding model gives SFJAZZ a unique opportunity to grow our audience through the use of technology,” said SFJAZZ Executive Director Randall Kline. “We are thrilled to be among this prestigious list of recipients.”

For a preview of The Discovery Project, be sure to check out this Spring Season's “Discovery Series”: four cutting-edge double bills featuring Travis Sullivan’s Björkestra, Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin, 2 Foot Yard, Third World Love and many more over four nights at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum.
