SFJAZZ Receives THE WALLACE FOUNDATION EXCELLENCE AWARD

SFJAZZ is proud to be one of 11 Bay Area Arts Organizations honored with The Wallace Foundation Excellence Award grant. This four-year grant will support "The Discovery Project," a constellation of initiatives designed to broaden attendance among SFJAZZ concert patrons ages 18–34.

Patato Valdes Legendary conguero Carlos "Patato" Valdes, passed away Tuesday, December 4 at the age of 81. The New York Times obituary calls Valdes "a giant of Latin jazz in Cuba and then for more than half a century in America."

Toumani Diabate, performing January 26, 2008 at the Herbst Theatre, is an acclaimed maestro of the kora, a harp unique to Africa.
