The globe's best singers arrive in San Francisco

The 25th Anniversary San Francisco Jazz Festival closes with four revered singers in the “World Voices” concert series. All superstars in their respective homelands, Cristina Branco (11/11), Caetano Veloso (11/17), Youssou N’Dour (11/30), and Chava Alberstein (12/9) represent music’s ability to enlighten, entertain, and energize while transcending linguistic and geographic barriers. SFJAZZ takes Members behind the scenes of the Festival with this Thursday's Open Soundcheck featuring Renee Rosnes. Beginning at 5:15, just prior to Rosnes' double-bill with Joe Lovano, this event features a window into the production elements of a show including a rare opportunity to see Collective pianist Rosnes soundcheck with her band.

JOHN SANTOS & SFJAZZ HIGH SCHOOL ALL-STARS

The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars kick off their 2007-2008 performing season with a World Premiere of John Santos' Traditions in Transition this Sunday, November 11. The percussion maestro himself joins the All-Stars to debut this groundbreaking work, arranged by Santos cohort John Calloway.

SFJAZZ honored with PRESTiGiOUS "STANDING OVATION"

On November 2, the San Francisco Museum and Historical Society presented SFJAZZ with its "Standing Ovation" award, honoring our 25th Anniversary. The award is presented annually to organizations that have made significant contributions to the rich, multicultural tapestry of San Francisco and the Bay Area.

What year did the trio make its Festival debut?
