SPRING SEASON JUST TWO WEEKS AWAY
Jarrett, Shorter, Tyner, Reeves—40+ Concerts in Venues Throughout S.F.

SFJAZZ's 25th Anniversary celebration continues with the 2008 Spring Season, four music-packed months featuring the finest in jazz, blues, world music, and much, much more. The first week of the Festival kicks off with The Discovery Series (see below), and two can't miss concerts: pianist Keith Jarrett's "Standards" Trio with Gary Peacock, and Jack DeJohnette (3/8); and the inspired pairing piano legend McCoy Tyner and tap master Savion Glover (3/14).

THE DISCOVERY SERIES

Eight forward thinking bands over four nights at Yerba Buena Center for Arts Forum: modern big bands Travis Sullivan’s Björkestra and Realistic Orchestra; minimalist grooves from Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin and The Frequency; 2 Foot Yard’s and Iron & The Albatross’ art-pop alchemy; and the global sounds of new Israel from Third World Love and Yaron Herman Trio.

Continuing a long tradition of "the best thematic programming" (The New York Times) SFJAZZ presents four seasons within a season this Spring: "The Discovery Series" (see left); the "Jazz Masters" series, spotlighting four legendary musicians; an all day "Jazz + Silent Film Festival" with live music accompanying classic films from the early days of the Silver Screen; and our acclaimed "Sacred Space" concerts.

Last Fall's San Francisco Jazz Festival marked the beginning of SFJAZZ's 25th Anniversary, a celebration that continues in 2008 with the SFJAZZ Spring Season. The Spring Season's Discovery Series features Bay Area favorite Carla Kihlstedt's 2 Foot Yard (pictured, left) plus seven more cutting edge bands.

Name one of Kihlstedt's other acclaimed bands.

The third correct respondent (received by Wednesday, February 27) will receive two tickets to the 2 Foot Yard/Iron & The Albatross show on March 8. Winner will be contacted directly.
