IT Support Specialist

Job Description

SFJAZZ seeks an experienced, customer service focused IT Support Specialist to leverage technology and make SFJAZZ employees as productive as possible. Part behind the scenes IT maintenance, part day-to-day helpdesk service, this person will provide company-wide support and have the exciting opportunity to develop and scale the resources of a rapidly growing organization. This person should be comfortable with multitasking and have an eye on planning for the future. As one of the key players to work with every employee, we're looking for a positive person who can juggle and prioritize multiple requests with patience and a smile.

The position reports to the IT Manager.

In January 2013, SFJAZZ opened the SFJAZZ Center, the first freestanding building in the United States designed specifically for jazz presentation and education. The ideal candidate for this position understands IT networks and infrastructure. The successful candidate has a strong focus on providing outstanding customer service and desktop support in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain record-keeping systems for all individual and institutional donors and prospects as it pertains to The World is Listening Campaign for the SFJAZZ Center and other special campaigns as assigned.
  • Administer computer systems and network and office systems
  • Handle end-user hardware and software requests
  • Troubleshoot employee issues with hardware, software, applications and networks
  • Set up new employees including collecting unique requirements
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and vendors
  • Work with a variety of IT vendors
  • Research and recommend IT hardware and services
  • Any other duties as assigned

STATUS AND SCOPE:

  • Ability to multitask in a rapidly growing environment
  • Ability to develop, recommend, and scale IT resources as the organization grows and changes
  • Customer service orientation coupled with thoughtfulness, patience and grace
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to provide remote support
  • Ability to prioritize and provide timely IT support in the following areas:
    Windows XP/7, Mac OS, Windows Server 2008, Smart Phones, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree in MIS or equivalent work experience; minimum of 1-2 years experience providing face-to-face desktop support in a heterogeneous network; proficient at system management tools, corporate anti-virus solutions, back-up and recovery solutions.

Working Conditions:
Working Conditions: The work schedule is customary office hours with the potential for planned on-call support. This job requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, crawl under desks and flexibility in working in an open office environment.

Campaign & Research Coordinator

Job Description

The Campaign & Research Coordinator (CRC) supports the Development Department in tracking and executing the business of the organization’s capital campaign as well as researching donor prospects for the capital campaign, Annual Fund and planned giving. The position reports to the Individual Giving Director with significant assignments from the Campaign Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Campaign
  • Maintain record-keeping systems for all individual and institutional donors and prospects as it pertains to The World is Listening Campaign for the SFJAZZ Center and other special campaigns as assigned.
  • Produce contribution and prospect solicitation reports for Development staff and Trustees; Update solicitation task reports and activities based on fundraiser input.
  • Assist Development Department and volunteer fundraisers in the cultivation and stewardship of their prospect lists and other fundraising activities.
  • Assist in the concept design and creation of donor/prospect briefings, proposal materials, and other campaign communications.
  • Regularly review pledges due for campaign; Generate and mail pledge reminders.
  • Work with Donor Services Assistant to ensure proper entry of all campaign gifts.
  • Coordinate the tracking and production of named-space signage for the building, such as plaques, seats, and donor wall recognition.
  • Assist in researching and assembling proposals in support of capital and other special campaigns.
  • Work with the Campaign Manager to produce and staff events such as receptions at concerts and meetings with artists.
  • Maintain inventory of updated campaign collateral materials.
Research:
  • Coordinate prospect research function for development team.
  • Conduct in-depth biographical, financial and philanthropic research using established fundraising research resources and as requested by fundraisers.
  • Enter all research into the Tessitura database; Work with Donor Services Coordinator to link research sources with Tessitura or customize the database to improve research communication and tracking of prospects.
  • Follow best practices in the donor research field; Train Development staff on relevant and new techniques.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

STATUS AND SCOPE:

  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive documents; Strong awareness of confidentiality expectations within the fundraising sector.
  • Detail oriented person with deep passion for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Project management skills a decided plus; multi-tasking problem-solver needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to fundraising best practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse array of constituents.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Interest in jazz and jazz related music.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree with two to three years of direct experience within a nonprofit development department OR five years of progressive job related experience as an Administrative Assistant or Executive Assistant.

Working Conditions:
The work schedule varies from customary office hours to unpredictable hours, with the potential for long hours during critical periods such as Festival weeks and special events. This job requires occasional work during evenings and weekends.

Give Music!

Bring live music to those who otherwise might not have the opportunity to enjoy it. SFJAZZ is partnering with jazz fans and community-based organizations to provide free tickets to concerts at the SFJAZZ Center.

When you make a contribution to the SFJAZZ Ticket Outreach Fund, you underwrite the cost of concert tickets for individuals and families who would not otherwise be able to attend.

How It Works

Tickets are distributed through our partner community-based organizations as an added perk of the essential support programs they provide to their clients and constituents. Partner organizations currently include Lighthouse for the Blind, Second Start Adult Literacy Program of the Oakland Public Library, Library for the Blind and Print Handicapped, and Project Read of the San Francisco Public Library. 

All donations to the fund are pooled. The SFJAZZ Box Office then works directly with each community organization to identify appropriate concerts for their constituents, and then provides the requested number of tickets completely free of charge to that organization*.

How It Began

The Ticket Outreach Fund was initiated by two generous individuals who each approached SFJAZZ with similar ideas. Leaders Circle Member Leslie Rodd describes her motivation: "When I help another jazz fan to the price of a ticket, I give him or her an evening of out-of-the-world music, a dose of optimism, and a membership in the jazz community."

 *You may recommend community organizations that SFJAZZ contact for participation. SFJAZZ reserves the right of decision for which organizations the tickets will be distributed to and for which concerts.

 Your contribution to the Ticket Outreach Fund is tax-deductible to the maximum amount allowed by IRS guidelines as you do not receive any goods or services in exchange. SFJAZZ will send you an official acknowledgment for their gift. Due to the benefits received through SFJAZZ membership, donations made to the Ticket Outreach Fund may not be earmarked as membership contributions simultaneously.

 

Artistic Associate Producer

Job Description

The Artistic Associate Producer will, under the leadership of Founder and Executive Artistic Director, Randall Kline, be one of a team responsible for the artistic planning, budgeting, managing and scheduling of all of the SFJAZZ concerts happening each fiscal year in both halls within the Center. The season includes the main season (September to June), The San Francisco Jazz Festival (11 days, mid-June), SFJAZZ Summer Sessions (July – August).

In January 2013, SFJAZZ opened the SFJAZZ Center, the first freestanding building in the United States designed specifically for jazz presentation and education. Recognized as an international leader in jazz creation, presentation and education, SFJAZZ explores the full spectrum of jazz, from the music’s origins in the African American community to its diverse present –day expressions around the world.

This position will be principally responsible for managing all aspects of the SFJAZZ Collective and assisting in the booking of close to 300 shows at the SFJAZZ Center.

The Associate Artistic Producer position reports to the Artistic Producer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SFJAZZ Collective:

  • Develop and manage the Collective’s calendar, including the booking of tours, residency activities at the Center and all outreach for the group.
  • Manage and plan scope and schedule of tour with SFJAZZ Collective’s booking agent.
  • Manage and develop SFJAZZ Collective budgets.
  • Generate internal and external marketing, public relations, residency schedules, and interactions with other SFJAZZ departments such as marketing, development and education.; coordinate the SFJAZZ Collective’s activities while at SFJAZZ Center.
  • Manage music scores and music library.
  • Manage recording, production, sales and all legal issues associated with CD and digital production, distribution and music publishing.

Bookings

  • Work with the artistic team in the planning, booking and contracting process for over 260 shows annually.
  • Research prospective artists; analyzing market data and making recommendations regarding viability and availability.
  • Prepare materials pertaining to bookings for marketing and development Departments; prepare show and season budgets; analyze results as requested.
  • Work with and coordinate with other departments on special events, receptions or salons, artist meet and greets, and etc.

Logistics

  • Oversee the logistics surrounding each artist’s booking; coordinate with the Artist Manager on airlines, hotels and ground transportation.
  • Manage the visa process (when needed) of international artists.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree, ideally with an emphasis in art or music administration
  • Over 5-10 years of direct experience with one or more of the following: venue talent buyer, talent agency, recording industry, music publishing, or artist management company.
  • High-level jazz and music business contacts and knowledge of programming trends in the National and International musical community.
  • Ability to appropriately handle contracts and budget processes; strong awareness of how to maintain artist and/or artists’ management expectations balanced with the financial needs of SFJAZZ.
  • Project management; multi-tasking; problem solving abilities.
  • Detail oriented person with high level of accuracy and thoroughness; attention to detail coupled with thoughtfulness and grace.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse array of constituents across multiple departments.
  • High level Computer skills including facility with databases and excel spreadsheets.

The film was narrated by acclaimed actor Delroy Lindo. This video was first shown in the Robert N. Miner Auditorium during SFJAZZ Center's Grand Opening on January 21, 2013.
