Volume 2 of the 3-part series includes 9 selections highlighting the years from the opening of the SFJAZZ Center in 2013 to the 2022 Season, featuring originals and rearrangements of music by Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, Antônio Carlos Jobim, and Sly & the Family Stone.

The final volume of the 3-part series features brand new studio recordings, including a 7-part suite inspired by the band’s history.

Brand new recordings tracing the 20-year legacy of the SFJAZZ Collective on 3 exclusive LPs, presenting fresh approaches to the Collective’s extensive repertoire of original material and tributes to the giants of modern music.

This limited edition CD, recorded during the SFJAZZ Collective’s four-night residency in October 2022 on the Miner Auditorium stage at the SFJAZZ Center, documents new works from the all-star ensemble. Additionally, the album includes fresh new approaches to timeless classics, like a two-part medley of Billie Holiday’s “God Bless The Child” and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “That’s The Way Of The World,” and Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free.”

This limited edition CD, recorded during the SFJAZZ Collective’s four-night residency in October 2021 on the Miner Auditorium stage at the SFJAZZ Center, documents new works from the all-star ensemble, addressing racial injustices, the global pandemic, and the unprecedented political polarization and upheaval we are currently facing in our daily lives.

The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars is a top-tier training program presented by SFJAZZ Education, and is comprised of two ensembles: the Big Band, led by Paul Contos, and the Combo, led by Dann Zinn. Participants are chosen by competitive audition each year from schools throughout the greater Bay Area, and take part in clinics, performances, recording sessions, festivals, and competitions.

The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars is a top-tier training program presented by SFJAZZ Education. Participants are chosen by competitive audition each year from schools throughout the greater Bay Area. The All-Stars program is comprised of two ensembles: the Big Band, led by Paul Contos, and the Combo, led by Dann Zinn. Both ensembles rehearse weekly at the SFJAZZ Center, and take part in performances, recording sessions, festivals, and competitions each year, both in California and throughout the United States.

This limited edition two-disc set, recorded during the Collective’s four-night residency in October 2018 on the Miner Auditorium stage at SFJAZZ, documents the SFJAZZ Collective’s arrangements of the music of Antônio Carlos Jobim as well as their own stimulating compositions.

A tribute to founding alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón during his final year with the SFJAZZ Collective, we have curated this exclusive double CD collection of Miguel’s original compositions for the band, written over his fourteen-year career with the Collective. Comprising thirteen tracks culled from their live recordings, this compilation features performances from the current lineup of the SFJAZZ Collective as well as Joshua Redman, Bobby Hutcherson, Dave Douglas, Joe Lovano, Nicholas Payton, Stefon Harris, Renee Rosnes, Eric Harland, André Hayward, Brian Blade, Avishai Cohen, Josh Roseman, and Robert Hurst.

Recorded over four nights at the SFJAZZ Center from October 26-29, 2017, this collection consists of one CD of new pieces composed by each member of the current SFJAZZ Collective with a second CD of fresh versions of selections from the Collective’s vast trove of tunes including Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk and Stevie Wonder arranged over the years by former SFJAZZ Collective members, saxophonist Joshua Redman, trumpeter Dave Douglas, arranger Gil Goldstein, and trumpeter Avishai Cohen, for the current SFJAZZ Collective members.

In spring of 2004, SFJAZZ launched one of the year’s most exiting new jazz ensembles, the SFJAZZ Collective, featuring eight all-star musician/composers who consistently rank among the top artists today. For their inaugural season, the group’s repertoire included the debut of new works composed by each Collective member and highlighted the music of master innovator Ornette Coleman.

Made up of current Bay Area high school-aged jazz musicians and comprised of two ensembles – the Big Band and the Combo – the All-Stars rehearse and perform throughout the school year at the SFJAZZ Center, receive mentorship and clinics with leading jazz professionals, record a professional studio album, and appear at prestigious music festivals and competitions. The rewards are evident in their "dynamite" (JazzTimes) performances, which give “testimony to the continuing persistence of the creative spirit” (Los Angeles Times). "These kids are amazing," wrote the San Jose Mercury News, "jazz has a future!"
