LIVE FROM THE SFJAZZ CENTER

The SFJAZZ High School All-Stars is a top-tier training program presented by SFJAZZ Education, and is comprised of two ensembles: the Big Band, led by Paul Contos, and the Combo, led by Dann Zinn. Participants are chosen by competitive audition each year from schools throughout the greater Bay Area, and take part in clinics, performances, recording sessions, festivals, and competitions.

This album was made possible in part by the generosity of Rafael Costas. Additional support for the All-Stars program provided by the Hut Foundation, the Willard L. Marmelzat Foundation, and the Silver Giving Foundation. All proceeds of the High School All-Stars’ albums go directly back into the All-Stars program to support youth jazz education.

Recorded and mixed by Maya Finlay and Jeff Cressman at the SFJAZZ Center’s Miner Auditorium; assisted by Billy Clayton. Edited by Jef Stott and Paul Contos. Mastered by Michael Romanowski. Produced by Paul Contos, Dann Zinn, Jef Stott, Erin Putnam, Veronica Limcaco, and Rebeca Mauleón.

Special thanks to SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director, Marcus Shelby, for composing “Cepeda” for the 2019-2020 High School All-Stars Big Band. This commission was made possible through the generosity of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
