SFJAZZ CENTER 10TH ANNIVERSARY

THU-SUN, JAN 12-15

Like the opening week of the SFJAZZ Center in January 2013, this week-long celebration of the venue's 10th Anniversary Season is an all-star affair with a different artistic theme each night. The first two night's feature tributes to two late jazz legends who performed on the opening night concert, McCoy Tyner (Jan 12th) and Chick Corea (Jan 13), and two reunion concerts highlighting eleven former and current SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Directors from over the last decade in various formats throughout each evening.

SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director Program
Every two years, SFJAZZ selects a new group of forward-thinking musicians to participate in the program where they are invited to present new and unique works at SFJAZZ. During the opening week of the SFJAZZ Center in January 2013, the first group of Resident Artistic Directors performed in various collaborative settings (duos, trios, quartets), and that same approach will take place for both Saturday and Sunday’s reunion concerts.

"The Resident Artistic Director program has played a central role in distinguishing SFJAZZ from other presenters, establishing deep new relationships with leading artists while building on existing ties" — Bay Area News Group
