School Programs Coordinator
OVERVIEW
The SFJAZZ School Programs Coordinator supports the Education Department’s School Programs Team in coordinating, scheduling and documenting the organization’s in-school programs, developing and supporting critical relationships between the school community and SFJAZZ. The Coordinator must demonstrate unwavering commitment to arts education access and equity, possess keen awareness of the Bay Area’s public education system, and demonstrate poise and grace in an often hectic environment. This position requires frequent mobility and off-site travel throughout the Bay Area, including school and classroom visits as well as regular meetings with school and community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with school staff and SFJAZZ Teaching Artists to support successful classroom residencies
- Schedule meetings and residency plans throughout the school year
- Regularly visit school sites to observe, document, and evaluate classroom residencies
- Cultivate partnerships with school teachers and administrators to spark interest in other SFJAZZ programs and performances
- Prepare evaluation reports and documentation of program outcomes
- Schedule and support professional development workshops
- Represent the School Programs team at meetings with community partners and SFJAZZ at interdepartmental meetings
- Assist with outreach planning and community engagement efforts
- Collaborate with Lead Teaching Artists to schedule regular check-ins with Teaching Artist cohorts and school partners
- Support Teaching Artists as needed in challenging teaching environments
- Create and maintain a database of contacts used for all School Programs
- Provide general administrative support
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience in arts administration, arts education a must
- Advocate for social justice and education equity
- Strong knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Word & Excel or similar programs
- Detail oriented, excellent proofreading skills
- Ability to write a professional and clear email to a variety of clients
- Successful clearance of the DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprinting
- Provide current proof of Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Non-profit and/or performing arts background
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience
- Familiarity with Tessitura Network or similar membership software a plus
- Familiarity with Artifax or similar booking/event management software a plus
- Basic music and music industry literacy a plus
- English-Spanish Bilingual preferred
- Experience and familiarity with public education policy, arts integration and outreach implementation
- Experience facilitating virtual meetings (Zoom, Google-Meet, etc)
Education: College degree or equivalent (current coursework) in public education and arts advocacy
WORKING CONDITIONS
We offer a competitive salary based on qualifications, excellent benefits, and a flexible environment with some hybrid and remote work. This position requires frequent travel throughout San Francisco and Oakland.
SALARY
Salary range for this position is $58k-$62k/year, commensurate with experience. This is a full time, benefits eligible job. SFJAZZ offers several medical, dental and vision plans as well as Life insurance and a generous 401K matching plan after 90 days.
