Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager is responsible for a diverse array of accounting duties that support the San Francisco Jazz Organization’s financial functions. The position’s primary functions include monthly close activities; financial reporting; revenue and cost reporting; basic analyses; accurate and timely reconciling and reporting for various general ledger accounts; maintaining fixed asset listings; serving as back-up for payroll and assisting with payroll-related accounting entries.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions Include:
- Contribute to an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close process.
- Analyze all balance sheet accounts, prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules on a regular basis
- Analyze and maintain the general ledger to ensure the accuracy of coding and allocations
- Prepare and process journal entries for revenue, expense and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Partner with Development team in grant reporting
- Provide support during annual audits, filing of tax returns and 1099/1096 filings
- Assist with special projects as needed
Qualifications:
- CPA required
- Bachelor’s degree, with major in accounting
- At least 5 years of accounting experience preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Sage Intacct knowledge a plus
- Tech savvy, detail oriented, highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple schedules and changing deadlines and priorities
- A people person who is positive, open minded, articulate, outgoing, willing/eager to learn, collegial, and a sense of humor.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, possesses a strong work ethic, has ambition, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ethics and integrity with skills in exercising good independent judgment and demonstrable analytical abilities.
- Strong interest in the arts/music and organizational mission.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, and at least intermediate skills in other Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.)
- This position is hybrid (half of the time in office and half remote).
