2015 SFJAZZ Poetry Festival feat. Berkeley Poets
2015 SFJAZZ Poetry Festival: Berkeley
During 2014 SFJAZZ Poetry Festival poets were able to “step out of the melting pot” as T.S. Casey put it, and embrace their ethnic histories. Italian, Spanish as well as American were spoken onstage. Some of the poems were poignant, but others were humorous. Italian American poet Giovanna Capone presented a poem about a Godzilla-like salami attacking the city of New York.
The theme of the 2015 SFJAZZ Poetry Festival is "The Cities Speak Of Poetry." Four nights of poetry from San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Berkeley.
The Bay Area’s historic cornerstone of social consciousness and personal expression, Berkeley continues to be a beacon for artists, thinkers, and free spirits. On Thursday, the city’s current crop of poetic voices unites for this special performance.
