Listening Party w/ Christian McBride
Come into the SFJAZZ “living room” and hear artists and tastemakers spinning their favorite recordings while in conversation with SFJAZZ Founder and Executive Artistic Director Randall Kline. Listening Parties offer listeners the chance to get behind-the- scenes and hear about music from the artist’s perspective. The format is an on-stage conversation in the Robert N. Miner Auditorium, accompanied by the artist’s pick of recorded, and sometimes live, excerpts. The conversation closes with questions from the audience followed by a reception with the artist.
ABOUT CHRISTIAN McBRIDE
One of the world’s most versatile, virtuosic, and recorded bassists explores the bass’s place through the history of jazz. With his wealth of experience in settings from duo to big band, from jazz with McCoy Tyner to hip-hop with Questlove, McBride has a unique and priceless perspective on this most misunderstood part of the rhythm section. He is a three-time GRAMMY winner and has appeared on over 300 recordings. He’s the host of NPR’s Jazz Night in America, and recently succeeded the legendary George Wein as Artistic Director of the Newport Jazz Festival.
