      at Herbst Theatre

I'm enamored by this group's unconventional and innovative approach to making music. Their makeshift instruments play off their exuberant and off-kiltered harmonies in a way that's similar to their Crammed Discs label mate Konono N°1 (who I unfortunately missed at SFJAZZ's Fall 2005 Festival). This is a rare treat for San Francisco especially at such an intimate and beautiful venue.

If my co-worker Rick Warren says, "this legend is just too kewl for school," I'm there. But seriously, Jamal will be a delight to see at the Herbst Theatre.

      Friday, October 7, 8:00pm
      at Davies Symphony Hall

I was planning on seeing the Shankars last season, but due to unforeseeable circumstances, the show was cancelled. Fortunately, they've rescheduled to play this fall and I hope to see them in October.

      Sunday, October 16, 7:00pm
at San Francisco Conservatory of Music

A friend of mine recently took trip to Asia and shared some stories about her adventures, which included seeing a few throat singers perform at a temple. I was intrigued and curious about this otherworldly experience, and now here's my chance to hear and see this in person.

      Saturday, November 5, 7:00pm & 9:00pm
at Palace of Fine Arts Theatre

My mom enrolled me in several dance classes at the young age of seven where I learned the basics of ballet and tap. Unfortunately this short-lived extracurricular activity did not carry over to my adult life. That's why I'm jazzed to see Mr. Glover at age 37, dazzle the stage with his taps accompanied by the Bare Soundz. Their collaboration will create both an exciting dance and auditory experience (especially if mom comes along).
