Playlist: Young, Gifted & Black
February 10, 2021 | by SFJAZZ
As an organization that celebrates an artform born from and rooted in the African-American experience, we believe we should be honoring Black history every day.
One of the many ways we will highlight this history in the month of February is through four curated playlists celebrating the music’s African roots, the important role jazz has played in calling out racial injustices, the invaluable contributions made by Black female artists, and today's groundbreaking Black vocalists.
We continue our curated Black History Month playlist series highlighting some of the great young Black vocalists in jazz and beyond, including music from Cécile McLorin Salvant, José James, Jorja Smith, Jazzmeia Horn, Cleo Sol, Yazmin Lacey, Leon Bridges, Lady Blackbird, and more!
