On April 18, 2018, author, educator, activist, and Civil Rights icon Angela Davis sat down with SFJAZZ Founder and Executive Artistic Director Randall Kline for a Listening Party on "Jazz & Social Justice." Here are the tracks Davis shared, plus a couple of extras they didn't get to.
On this week's Fridays at Five streaming concert, Angela Davis joins SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director Marcus Shelby and his all-star quartet for a performance centered around Davis' 1999 book Blues Legacies and Black Feminism that illuminates the legacies of blues and jazz legends “Ma” Rainey, Bessie Smith and Billie Holiday.
SFJAZZ will donate our half of the Tip Jar proceeds to Black Lives Matter.
