A few of these songs cropped up in my book Every Song Ever. That book asks what we’re going to do with our great access to the world’s music now that we have it, then presents 20 meditations on ways of listening that might cut across genre, mood, and era. The idea is approaching the gigantic library with curiosity and purpose—or, in other words, non-algorithmic listening.
