WEEK 2: JOE HENDERSON LAB
Jul 26 - Jul 27, 2025
Joe Henderson Lab
“One of the top harmonica players in the U.S.,” (All Music Guide) the East Bay music luminary, GRAMMY nominee, and Blues Music Award winner celebrates the legacy of the legendary blues singer, songwriter, and harmonica master Little Walter with his longtime band the Blues Survivors including guitar greats Anson Funderburgh and Junior Watson.
A GRAMMY Hall of Famer, Blues Hall of Famer, and the only harmonica player inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Little Walter was a pioneering figure in the evolution of the instrument, establishing its vocabulary in the genre and influencing a legion of masters to follow, including James Cotton, Junior Wells, and of course, Mark Hummel.
Junior Watson has been one of the most revered Blues players for three decades. A hugely influential guitarist, Watson has played over 200 sessions and enjoyed longterm stints with Canned Heat and Rod Piazza & Mighty Flyers among many others.
In addition to anchoring his latest iteration of his band The Rockets, Anson Funderburgh has been touring since 2010 with Hummel in the Golden State-Lone Star Revue. With New Orleans multi-instrumentalist Eric Lindell, the guitarist has made six appearances at the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Together, this remarkable band of blues heroes honors the enduring legacy of Little Walter in their own inimitable style.
