Join composer, performer, and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Berkman in this online class as he discusses and demonstrates the technical wizardry behind live looping and creating spontaneous compositions live on stage. In Daniel's recorded work and performances, he builds looping compositions live using kora (African harp), viol de gamba, tenor uke, guitars, analog synths and digital percussion. A fascinating process that yields beautiful musical results.
No experience required. Open to all levels.
Apps used: hardware and software loopers, Logic Pro
Software not required to attend.
How it works
Are these online classes?
Yes, these classes are held online in the Zoom meeting platform.
How many students are in each class?
We are limiting the class size to 25 students to keep them informative and engaging.
Why different prices?
We want these classes to be available to everyone. Please consider paying the amount you are comfortable with. The lowest Tier of $25 is limited to 10 seats.
Do I need the audio software to take the class?
No, and no experience is required. You can take any class without purchasing any software.
Will there be recordings of the classes?
Yes, enrolled students will have access to the recordings of the classes for 90 days after the class has met.
How will I get access to the class?
Students will receive an email from the SFJAZZ Education Dept. on the morning of the class with login information.

Insightful and informative workshops exploring how digital music is created and performed today, with an emphasis on live performance and improvisation, DJing, recording, mixing and mastering. Learn the latest in music production techniques in semi private small online classes with top shelf instructors. Each online session is limited to 25 students to maximize engagement and learning.
