The rising Los Angeles-based keyboardist and producer Diego Gaeta will focus on his re-imagined takes on the work of Thelonious Monk.

A visionary artist whose approach integrates the futurism of 1970s jazz fusion with hip-hop, global folk music influences, chamber music, and multiple strains of modern expression, Gaeta is among the most accomplished young musicians on the flourishing L.A. scene and has built a fervent following around the world.

His dynamic and soulful playing gained notice in his work with the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra founded by the iconic pianist Horace Tapscott, the trio Human Error Club, Aaron and Lawrence Shaw’s Black Nile project, the adventurous percussionist Carlos Niño, and with fellow SoCal keyboard/producer Moki Kawaguchi, better known as Lionmilk.

He appears on rapper and jazz-flutist André 3000’s critically hailed 2023 release New Blue Sun, Tommaso Cappellato’s 2023 jazz-fusion recording Explorare and has released a pair of sample-heavy solo albums under the name Club Diego with 2020’s The Weird is Very World to Me and the 2023 full-length This Could Be Our Every Day.

His most expansive release is his 2023 Preference Records album Fearlessly Accessing The Divine Spirit of Freedom From Here On Out featuring an extended ensemble of strings and horns with guest appearances by renowned poet and musician Moor Mother, harpist Low Leaf, and vocalist Jimetta Rose.
