Two visionary instrumentalists share this superb double bill.

ABOUT AVISHAI COHEN
The supremely inventive Israeli trumpeter Avishai Cohen, a familiar Bay Area presence from his six-year stint in the SFJAZZ Collective, focuses on new material and music from his newest quartet release for ECM, 2022’s Naked Truth featuring pianist Yonathan Avishai, bassist Barak Mori, and drummer Ziv Ravitz.

The Tel Aviv native is a multiple DownBeat Critics Poll winner and an artist of rare range and clarion tone who has excelled through work as a bandleader with his trio Triveni, as part of the world-fusion collective Third World Love, in sideman settings with Jason Lindner, Mark Turner, and Omer Avital, and as part of the band 3 Cohens with his jazz-playing siblings Anat and Yuval.

ABOUT CRAIG TABORN
Keyboardist Craig Taborn established himself as a modern master through his nine explorative releases and pivotal collaborative or sideman roles with Chris Potter, Vijay Iyer, Roscoe Mitchell, Kris Davis, James Carter, and David Binney.

An artist as comfortable in straight-ahead situations as the furthest fringes of the avant-garde, Taborn has received “Best Pianist” and “Pianist of the Year” accolades from JazzTimes and the Jazz Journalists Association. His albums have run the gamut from solo piano of his 2021 ECM release Shadow Plays to the 2019 electro-acoustic trio project Golden Valley Is Now with The Bad Plus rhythm section Reid Anderson and Dave King, and his most recent session, hEARoes, is a 2023 co-led live trio recording for the Rogueart label with French bassist Joëlle Léandre and violist Mat Maneri.
