Huntertones brings people together around the globe with fun, imaginative and fearless music. Their high energy, horn-driven sound features genre bending composition and unconventional covers. Every show is a social experience celebrating the joy of music. They’ve performed in over 25 countries world wide and continue to tour the US and abroad. Huntertones claims more authority than ever as they drive into their 10th year. Their new release Motionation is a manifestation of a band with unlimited imagination and an ever growing desire to find new ways to express themselves.
“Propelled forward by a horn-driven focus on explosive, imaginative, and genre-defying compositions” (PopMatters), this well-oiled all-star funk machine co-led by saxophonist Dan White, Louis Cato and The Late Show Band trumpeter Jon Lampley, and trombonist Chris Ott counts alumni of Stevie Wonder, Ed Sheeran, Cory Wong, Gary Clark Jr., Kurt Elling, and Umphrey’s McGee among its members.
Originally formed by the former Ohio State University students and now based in Brooklyn, the band has brought their rip-roaring blend of jazz, funk, rock, and soul around the world, touring North and South America, Europe and Africa while absorbing global influences from their travels that have further informed their compositional approaches. The band has performed in over 25 countries and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Thriving on unpredictability and a diverse range of expression in their live performances, the group shifts from a dynamic six-piece ensemble to a trio featuring saxophone, sousaphone, and beatboxing, keeping their listeners’ eyes and ears open at every turn. Their 7th and latest album, 2024’s Motionation, includes six imaginative originals and soulful covers of Steely Dan’s “Dirty Work” and “Valdez in the Country” by Donny Hathaway.
