Ben Folds

Best known as pianist and leader of the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five, singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ben Folds has built a protean career by moving from strength to strength, classical music to pop to alternative rock. An artist possessed of masterful technique and faultless instincts, he is also one of the most incisive lyricists of his generation. Folds and his quarted perform the delightful mix of revised classics and reflective originals that makes up his 2024 New West Records Christmas album Sleigher. 

Formed by the North Carolina native in 1994, Ben Folds Five was among the most subversively unique bands of the era — essentially a guitar-less punk rock band with Folds and his raucous piano as the central focus. The single “Brick” from their 1997 sophomore album Whatever and Ever Amen became a rock radio staple.
