Original show description below.

A Bay Area jazz mainstay for the past decade, guitarist Mason Razavi has honed a personal take on the blues-tinged straight-ahead sound pioneered by Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell. With his clean attack and beautifully crafted lines he’s earned recognition as a fluid and resourceful improviser in a variety of settings. This performance in the Joe Henderson Lab celebrates the release of his new album Even Keel with this superb quartet including saxophone great Charles McNeal, organist Brian Ho, and drummer Jason Lewis.

Based in San Jose, Razavi got his start as a teenager playing in rock bands but greatly expanded his range of interests and influences studying composition and arranging at Berklee College of Music. After several years concentrating intently on classical guitar he gained recognition with a series of solo recitals and the 2012 release People, Places, and Monsters

Since then, Razavi has distinguished himself on the electric guitar as a composer and bandleader. He garnered acclaim for his two electro-acoustic Quartet Plus albums, and with Even Keel, Razavi further expands his horizons as a modern jazz powerhouse.
