Jeremiah Lockwood, solo guitar

Son of composer Larry Lockwood and the grandson of the legendary Cantor Jacob Konigsberg, Lockwood began his musical career playing on the streets and subways of Manhattan, performing with Piedmont Blues master Carolina Slim and absorbing the deepest layers of American roots music. A true musical polymath, Lockwood composes for film, theater and orchestra, and toured the globe with Balkan Beat Box and as part of Sway Machinery, a group dedicated to mining the depths of archaic musical traditions. Lockwood’s 2006 debut, American Primitive, created the atmosphere of a lost field recording from the early 20th century, cartwheeling through varying approaches and presenting an enlightening portrait of Lockwood’s aesthetic.

Inspired by guitar legend John Fahey’s 1968 Christmas classic The New Possibility: John Fahey’s Guitar Soli Christmas Record, A Great Miracle consists of eight blues-inspired takes on the most beloved melodies of the holiday’s canon, one for each night of the Festival of Lights.
