With a shared legacy of innovation and matchless musicality, two of the most influential instrumentalists in modern jazz, each rising to prominence through the bands of Miles Davis, come together for this intimate evening of duos.

One of the contemporary jazz scene’s definitive jazz guitarists, Scofield has displayed a chameleonic talent for turning any musical setting into a forum for his unmistakably slinky lines, whether he’s playing post-bop, funk/fusion, nu-groove, or country music. The three-time GRAMMY winner cut his teeth with Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Charles Mingus and Gary Burton before his work with Davis catapulted him into the limelight in the 1980s, and since then, he’s led over 30 sessions including his latest, Combo 66.

Far more than one of the jazz’s greatest bassists, Holland has inhabited the music’s adventurous edge ever since Davis hired him to anchor his band in 1968 as it rapidly morphed from an acoustic powerhouse to a pioneering fusion combo. Nearly 40 albums as a leader and collaborations with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Kenny Wheeler and dozens more have made him among the most versatile and prolific bassist/composers working today. Holland is a 2017 NEA Jazz Master.
