Lilan Kane: Tribute to Etta James

FEB 14–17 | WEEK OF LOVE

“Brilliant blue-eyed soul. Kane shoots straight to the heart” (Marin Independent Journal). Kane is a graduate of Boston’s Berklee School of Music whose career has included opening slots for the likes of Sharon Jones, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, and Trombone Shorty.

She has worked with the Jazz Mafia’s Cosa Nostra Strings and has recently released her debut album as a leader, Love, Myself, a document of her original compositions. She fronts the rollicking six-piece band Hella Fitzgerald, a group bringing an infectious energy to vintage jazz, swing, jump blues, and classic soul styles — a group with whom she performed a sold-out tribute to Ella Fitzgerald last season. In addition to performing, Kane is a dedicated educator, having co-founded the Own the Mic summer singing camp at Marin’s San Domenico School.

More

The Oakland soul singer returns with an evening of music made famous by one of her greatest influences, soul icon Etta James.

A polished project that captures (Kane’s) love of sultry 1960's soul.
