Original show description below.

While Mimi Fox has been a Bay Area resident for decades, hometown opportunities to catch this globetrotting guitar star are few and far between. She returns for one night with her acoustic trio, performing a set of standards, originals, and material from her latest Origin Arts release, This Bird Still Flies.

A blazing straight-ahead fret master who combines bebop-infused technique with an abundance of soul, Fox spins solos that unfurl with surprise twists like expertly tailored short stories. She has performed and recorded with some of the most commanding players in jazz, including saxophonists Branford Marsalis and David Sánchez, vocalists Abbey Lincoln, Diana Krall, Janis Siegel, and Pamela Rose, Hammond B-3 organ masters Barbara Dennerlein and Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummers Billy Hart and Terri Lyne Carrington. Among fellow guitarists, Fox has collaborated with a multi-generational who’s-who, including Kenny Burrell, Charlie Byrd and Charlie Hunter.

She’s released over a dozen albums as leader or co-leader, dating back to her 1985 debut Against the Grain, and has worked in various disciplines including soundtracks for film and television, theater, dance, and orchestral composition. With This Bird Still Flies, Fox makes an audacious and virtuosic statement as a solo performer that Midwest Record calls a “tour de force.”
