“The New Breed Brass Band turns every concert it performs into a rollicking, New Orleans-styled dance party” (San Diego Union-Tribune). The young 9-piece band is the new sound of New Orleans, and its members have learned from NOLA’s best. Mentored by legends including Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, James “12” Andrews and Bruce “Sun-pie” Barnes, New Breed takes the second-line band tradition to brand new places.

The infectious NOLA sounds of the ReBirth, Dirty Dozen and Lil’ Rascals Brass Bands are part of New Breed’s DNA, but this youthful, upstart ensemble is expanding the NOLA palette, bringing in the influences of Earth, Wind & Fire and Brass Construction. Winner of the “Best Emerging Artist” award in New Orleans, the New Breed Brass Band infuses the second-line sound with funk, rock, jazz and hip-hop. Opening shows for Red Baraat, Dr. John, the Waterboys and Trombone Shorty, it rocks its audiences — and is poised to take its place as the new heavyweight brass band on the scene.

Fresh angles on the brass band tradition. As their name suggests, they carry the heritage with some contemporary steps like hip-hop, funk and R&B. It’s a young reboot, but the spirit is still very truly New Orleans.
