MAR 29 - APR 2 | Rosanne Cash
Mar 30 - Apr 02, 2023
Miner Auditorium
“One of the most ambitious and literary songwriters of her generation” (Rolling Stone), Rosanne Cash is America’s foremost musical woman of letters, a singularly literate and incisive artist whose poignant vocals turn every song into a revelatory tale.
A former SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director with a lengthy history performing on our stages, she returns following her 2022 performances revisiting her GRAMMY-nominated 2009 projectThe List with music from across her career, including songs from her latest Blue Note release She Remembers Everything and the recent singles “Crawl into the Promised Land” and “The Killing Fields”. She is joined by a seasoned band including her husband and musical collaborator John Leventhal.
At the peak of her interpretive powers, her career hit a milestone with the 2009 release of The List, an album distilled from a list of 100 essential country songs given to her at 18 by her father, the legendary Johnny Cash. Cash has landed nearly a dozen #1 country hit singles while earning 16 GRAMMY nominations, culminating in three GRAMMY wins for her 2009 Blue Note release, The River & The Thread.
The GRAMMY-nominated She Remembers Everything is a vibrant document of American life, with songs steeped in love, longing, second thoughts and dreams unrealized to the realities of gun violence and the price of experience.
A former SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director with a lengthy history performing on our stages, she returns joined by a seasoned band including her husband and musical collaborator John Leventhal.
