JUN 22-24 | KRONOS FESTIVAL 2023
Jun 24, 2023
Joe Henderson Lab
Featuring compositions by Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, Philip Glass, Zakir Hussain, Susie Ibarra, Aleksander Kościów, Sky Macklay, Angélica Negrón, Peni Candra Rini, Charlton Singleton, Stephan Thelen.
The final program of this year’s Festival completes the survey of the eclectic Kronos Fifty for the Future repertoire with works by composers from India, Indonesia, Mali, Poland, Switzerland, and the United States (including Puerto Rico).
Kronos takes the stage and also welcomes two exceptional guest ensembles: New York’s Grammy-winning Attacca Quartet and, making their third appearance in this festival, SF’s own innovative Friction Quartet.
For 50 years, San Francisco’s Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet has reimagined and redefined the string quartet experience. This year’s annual festival highlights works from the landmark Kronos Fifty for the Future commissioning and legacy project.
Kronos has led and continues to lead what surely must be the longest unending revolution by any ensemble ever in music history.
