Here are five things to know about the young drum phenom, Jamison Ross.
- In 2012, Ross won the Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition for drums, the most prestigious award in jazz.
- Jamison found himself in the spotlight in high school when he was featured in the 2007 documentary Chops, chronicling Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Festival.
- After being invited to the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency at D.C.'s Kennedy Center, Ross was "discovered" by GRAMMY-award winning singer Carmen Lundy, and recorded on Lundy's Changes and Soul to Soul.

- Ross released his debut project Jamison on Concord Jazz in 2015, featuring Late Show with Stephen Colbert bandleader Jon Batiste.
