Timothy Simon - 1st Term

Timothy Alan Simon, is president of TAS Strategies, founded in 2013. Simon is Commissioner Emeritus, having been appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on February 15, 2007 ending his term on December 31, 2012. Prior to this appointment, he served as Appointments Secretary in the Office of the Governor, the first African American in California history to hold this post. Simon was appointed by two Department of Energy Secretaries as a member of the National Petroleum Council. Simon also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at U.C. Hastings College of the Law and Golden Gate University School of Law. Prior to public service, Simon was counsel and Chief Compliance Officer advising major financial institutions.

Simon received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of San Francisco, where he was awarded as a Distinguished Alumni, and a Juris Doctor from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. He serves an adjunct professor of Securities Regulation and Merger Acquisitions at the Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, and as an advisor on international securities in Golden Gate’s U.S. Legal Studies Program. Simon is a member of the State Bar of California and is a Trustee at USF. Simon serves on several non-profit boards, including the Saint Ignatius College Preparatory Board of Regents (alma mater), Catholic Charities/CYO of San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo Counties and the Mission Dolores Academy.
