Finance Manager
Job Description
As a Finance Manager you will analyze financial information and partner with Senior Management, Finance Committee, and Department Directors and Managers in identifying trends and providing financial and donor/patron insights. As a key member of the finance department, the Finance Manager will perform a variety of budgeting, forecasting, and analysis activities to support key strategic initiatives and optimize brand financial performance. Through performance of its essential job duties this position can impact company costs and profitability.
About SFJAZZ
SFJAZZ is one of the world’s most popular and important presenters of jazz. The SFJAZZ Center is a beautiful and perfect stage for jazz artists and the community to celebrate the living American art form of jazz. The $64 million dollar Center launched in 2013 and the 35-year-old non-profit organization now crafts distinguished programming and education services from the heart of the San Francisco arts district. The budget for 2019-20 season is more that $19.5 million with about half coming from ticket revenues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
- Collaborates and develops with key stakeholders, consultants, department directors and managers internal processes that deepen financial communication across the organization including key performance metrics and reports
- Compile, analyze, and report accounting data for management reports
- Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document variance explanations to determine progress versus financial targets
- Works with the Controller on the preparation, maintenance, and reforecasts of the annual operating budget; provides budget reports to management and assists in interpreting the results; refines the budgeting methodology and looks for tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the process.
- Conceptualize, document, and build financial models to assist in decision making
- Prepare monthly financial dashboard, scorecards, reports, and P&L narratives for management and internal team discussion
- Maintain automated accounting system to ensure integrity of data interfaced between the ticketing database (Tessitura), venue & event management software (Artifax) and the financial software (Intacct).
- Assist Controller with presentation information to senior management, committees, and the Board.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting
- 3 – 5 years as a Financial Manager or Financial Analyst
- Non-profit accounting experience strongly preferred
- Prefer experience in the performing arts industry and automation in accounting and financial applications.
- Strong critical thinking, decision making ability, and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent computer skills and experience using technology to streamline processes; advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management
Working Conditions
The work schedule is usually customary office hours to unpredictable hours during critical periods.
