Individual Giving Manager
As a member of SFJAZZ's Development staff, the Individual Giving Manager plays a critical role in increasing individual donor support and managing the day-to-day operations of the Leaders Circle program. The Leaders Circle, SFJAZZ’s premier donor group, comprises 600 Members. He/she is responsible for overseeing the solicitation of annual Leaders Circle gifts between $1,500 and $3,000, annual gifts earmarked to SFJAZZ Education, and gala packages. The Individual Giving Manager reports to the Individual Giving Director and provides direct support for all individual giving initiatives.

SFJAZZ is one of the world’s most popular and important presenters of jazz. The SFJAZZ Center is a beautiful and perfect stage for jazz artists and the community to celebrate the living American art form of jazz. The $64 million Center launched in 2013 and the 35-year-old non-profit organization now crafts distinguished programming and education services from the heart of the San Francisco arts district. The budget for the 2018-19 Season is more than $18 million with more than half coming from ticket revenues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direction of the Individual Giving Director, implement and evaluate a comprehensive, multi-year plan to increase Leaders Circle membership and support of SFJAZZ, primarily through broad-based communications via direct mail and email. Working closely with major gift officers and other team members, this position manages a mid-level annual fund donor program, and ensures that donors and prospects are integrated into annual giving strategies and programs effectively. The Manager will execute and manage an annual Leaders Circle communications and events calendar and represent SFJAZZ in the concert halls and in the community, and at donor events.
Solicitations Program Management (50%)
- Manage, produce, coordinate, and implement direct marketing appeals for direct mail, email, and other digital campaigns.
- Under the direction of Individual Giving Director, work with designers to implement effective electronic solicitation strategies to supplement direct mail efforts and increase participation and per-donor revenue.
- Manage database and oversee gift administration with Donor Services Assistant.
- Oversee and work with Finance Department to ensure smooth and accurate gift processes and communication with team.
- Implement, test, and evaluate new strategies to increase donor retention, upgrades, and acquisition, and develop key performance indicators to ensure all goals are reached.
Cultivation and Stewardship (50%)
- Collaborate with Leaders Circle Ticket Concierge to ensure premium level customer service for all Leaders Circle Members in regards to ticket purchases, returns, and show experience.
- Assist in coordination of receptions at concerts, meet and greets with artists, and other donor cultivation and stewardship opportunities, in collaboration with events staff.
- Work with House Manager and Box Office Manager on-duty to guarantee the best Front of House experience for all Leaders Circle Members at SFJAZZ productions.
- Set, manage, and meet aggressive targets for annual gifts including acquisition, annual gift upgrades, and develop an effective pipeline to the major and planned gifts program.
- Develop cultivation strategies for general Members and ticket buyers with the capacity to make Leaders Circle gifts, in collaboration with the other team members.
- Track and document cultivation and stewardship activities in the Tessitura database and other donor tracking tools.
- Conduct initial research of new Leaders Circle Members to assess giving capacity, affinity, and connections to the organization, and identify 50 high-capacity donors annually for Gift Officers and SFJAZZ Leadership to further cultivate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated fundraising experience with a focus on individual donors
- Extensive donor database experience, knowledge of Tessitura highly desired
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and knowledge of search functions for donor research purposes
- Ability to execute annual giving campaigns, special events, and direct and personal solicitation
- Excellent communication skills, including written communications, with the ability to connect to a variety of audiences
- Superior interpersonal skills, engaging professionally with volunteers, colleagues, and donors
- Available to work weeknights and weekends
- Respect for confidentiality of donor information and a strong sense for donor ethics
- Strong work ethic, professional manner, and appearance in representing SFJAZZ
- Outstanding project management skills with careful attention to detail and can manage multiple projects simultaneously
