SFJAZZ is a recognized international leader in jazz creation, presentation, and education, exploring the full spectrum of jazz, from the music's origins to its diverse present-day expressions around the world. As a non-profit organization, SFJAZZ works to develop the audience for jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, and celebrates jazz as a living art form, built on a constantly evolving tradition.

Summary:

The SFJAZZ Development Events Intern will work alongside members of the Development team and other SFJAZZ staff in assisting with planning and executing fundraising events throughout the year. The intern will gain experience in the following:

  • Operations and communications practices in a high-profile and vibrant performing arts facility
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations 
  • Leveraging live events to increase contributed revenue and build relationships
  • PProject management skills for large-scale events, such as our annual Gala in January, as well as smaller events for major donors and prospects
  • Hands on experience with ticketing and donor management database, Tessitura and event management software, Artifax

This list of duties and responsibilities is not to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop list of vendors and establish possible in-kind donation opportunities
  • Create a system for maintaining event related inventory
  • Assist the Events Associate in planning and logistics for fundraising and stewardship events
  • Create, maintain, and distribute event production sheets, timeline and other communication documents
  • Maintain RSVP and attendance lists, send updates to key staff as needed
  • Assist in the set-up, registration, and management of events
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, event material archiving, and managing events-related inventory, as well as other tasks as needed
  • Attend production meetings, assisting with weekly notes relevant to the development department

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Organized with acute attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other common office applications
  • Availability to work occasional evening/weekend events
