Like you, thousands of music lovers come to the SFJAZZ Center to experience riveting live performances. But, you may not know of the outstanding work this organization has done for our public schools through its educational programs.

We were deeply touched by a story from one of the Oakland middle school teachers, whose classroom struggled with disengagement and severely limited resources. After an SFJAZZ two-week residency of blues and poetry, her students learned about music and came away with a new trust built between each other and their instructors. Her students returned to class eagerly asking  “Can we do this again?” and “Can I be in this next year?” Hearing this was truly music to the ears of the teacher. 

SFJAZZ provides a precious moment of transformation in some of the most challenging classrooms in the Bay Area.

As a longtime educator and as a trustee, we want to ensure that this excitement for learning, realized by SFJAZZ, will continue for these students. 

Your gift will ensure that middle school students in the entire Oakland and San Francisco Unified School Districts receive continuous access to SFJAZZ educational programs and receive scholarships for private instruction.
