Linda Tillery and the award-winning Cultural Heritage Choir trace the indelible folk music traditions of Odetta, Harry Belafonte, Lead Belly, and more, as we celebrate the joy, wonder, and innocence of our childhood.
An interactive Family Workshop follows this performance and is FREE to matinee ticket-holders, led by members of the Cultural Heritage Choir.
In celebration of 80 years of the history and rich musical recording industry in San Francisco, the USPS will hold a Building Bridges ceremony at SFJAZZ during the Family Matinee.
A Building Bridges Music Recording History Postal Station will be on site where the public and collectors can purchase specially-designed souvenir envelopes with the newly issued Gregory Hines stamp and a special pictorial postmark applied. San Francisco Postmaster Abraham Cooper will be on hand to personally cancel the Hines stamp and pictorial postmark for presentation to SFJAZZ.
Each one-hour matinee features live performance, audience participation, Q&A, and amazing music.
