Original show description below.
Made up of musicians associated with the Hot Club of San Francisco, Turk Murphy, and Tin Hat, Gaucho is a masterful Bay Area sextet that combines the influence of Django Reinhardt with ragtime, New Orleans swing and gutbucket blues. Led by eminent guitarist and Hot Club of San Francisco veteran Dave Ricketts, the group has been a San Francisco mainstay for nearly 15 years.
Accordionist Rob Reich is best known as a member of avant-chamber ensemble Tin Hat and the Nice Guy Trio, and Leon Oakley has lent his trumpet mastery to the music of the late, legendary Mal Sharpe’s Big Money In Jazz Band, Turk Murphy, and Clint Baker’s All-Stars.
Guitarist Craig Ventresco established himself as a virtuoso of ragtime and Delta blues as a member of the ragtime revival band Bo Grumpus, and made integral contributions to the soundtracks of Terry Zwigoff films Crumb and Ghost World. Together with the superlative bassist Ari Munkres and versatile drummer and percussionist Steve Apple, Gaucho transports listeners back in time. Blending instrumental acuity and lighthearted humor, they take the French jazz manouche tradition straight back to the gutbucket, creating a uniquely American concoction.

Gaucho's universe is expansive enough that Django Reinhardt is not the only star illuminating its nocturnal wanderings
