Original show description below.

“A master of Brazilian vocal music” (Albany Times Union), the brilliant vocalist Sandy Cressman returns with a tribute to Milton Nascimento, one of Brazil’s iconic composers and musicians. The New York born, San Jose-raised Cressman is a member of one of the Bay Area’s premier jazz families — wife of long time Santana trombonist and recording engineer Jeff Cressman and mother to rising star trombonist and vocalist Natalie Cressman — and had devoted her career to the music of Brazil after becoming entranced by the work of Ivan Lins, and later Nascimento, Airto and Flora Purim, Tania Maria, and Djavan while working with the acclaimed vocal trio Pastiche.

Cressman formed her band Homenagem Brasileira to celebrate the soul of Brazilian music, and has released three albums including her latest on Cressman Music, 2017’s Entre Amigos, a session featuring collaboration with pianists Jovino Santos Neto and Antonio Adolfo as well as guitarist Ian Faquini.

For this special evening, Cressman honors the legacy of Nascimento, a vital and hugely influential composer known for his songs “Maria, Maria", "Ponta de Areia", "Travessia" ("Bridges"), "Bailes da Vida", and "Cravo e Canela."
