Original show description below.

Led by Artistic Director and Conductor Valérie Sainte-Agathe, the San Francisco Girls Chorus Premier Ensemble, recognized as one of the world’s leading youth vocal ensembles, presents a diverse program of choral works highlighting their commitment to music of today and women composers.

The GRAMMY award winning ensemble presents the choral premiere of Kamala’s Hope by Oakland-based composer Candace Forest. Soprano Shawnette Sulker, cellist Emil Miland, and organist Jerome Lenk perform alongside for this work based on two Vice-Presidential acceptance speeches given by then Senator Kamala Harris in August 2020. The program also includes the world premiere of I See You, I Hear You, I Believe You by American composer Ursula Kwong-Brown, written in the wake of the #MeToo movement, as well as three SFGC commissions by Angélica Negrón, Amy X Neuburg, and Pamela Z.

The San Francisco Girls Chorus achieves an
incomparable sound that underscores the
unique clarity and force of impeccably trained
treble voices fused with expressiveness and
drama.

You can throw just about anything at these young singers, and they’ll respond with panache...there is a lovely spirit of adventure, a sense that these performers are game for anything.
