Night two of the Festival boasts the world premiere of Active Radio, combining a live performance by Kronos with an unscripted, on-stage conversation between Peabody-winning journalist Brooke Gladstone, host of WNYC’s On the Media, and Dale Minami, the SF–based civil rights lawyer and activist known for overturning Korematsu v. United States. The program also includes a world premiere by Jonathan Berger, with a recitation by author and scholar Nathalie Khankan; and the great throat singer/composer Tanya Tagaq, joining Kronos for a set of her own compositions, including the Bay Area premiere of Watchwolf.
The KRONOS FIVE DECADES anniversary season comes home to San Francisco in a four-day festival showcasing Kronos Quartet and a host of special guests, featuring world premieres and the final Kronos performances by violinist John Sherba and violist Hank Dutt.
Champion of contemporary and multi-genre repertoire, the Kronos Quartet has been breaking barriers for almost 50 years since its formation in 1973.
